Powder Puffs vs Powder Brush

Powder Puffs can be your best friend whether you have oily or dry skin. I find brushes to be more hygienic although you don't control the amount of product going on your skin. If you have dry skin and are exposed to cold weather applying too much powder to set your make up is relatively going to make you look more dull and make your skin feel even more dry than it already is. If you have oily skin the goal is to set your make up to be transfer proof. While there's many more steps that contribute to flawless make up a powder puff will dramatically change the outcome. When applying powder with a brush you run the risk of not allowing your skin to soak up the product. Sweeping motions with a brush may even separate your makeup. Even using a lot of powder with a brush may leave some problematic areas without enough powder to really seal your make up. A powder puff also controls the amount of product you use which means overall less waste since loose powder tends to fall all over the place when using a brush.
As a professional MUA I do recommend having both , a powder puff and a powder brush. When it comes to contouring and bronzing both contribute to an airbrush finish. A brush is definitely easier to clean. A powder puff is part of my disposables when it comes to clients along with eyebrow razors, eyeliner brushes, and lip brushes. If I use any of those items I give them to my corresponding client at the end of each session. Powder puffs are washable but require time and patience. I don't recommend using a powder puff for more than 3 make up applications for yourself. Also do not put away in humid or airtight spaces .They do come in direct contact to your face which means build up and bacteria. I recommend washing them by hand with antibacterial soap and letting them air dry. If you don't have time or patience like me you can just toss them out. That is why our powder puffs are as affordable as they are. You can never go wrong with investing in yourself.
